Second, privacy: Otter and Fireflies send your audio to third-party AI services. Keptivo runs all AI on private infrastructure. Your voice data is encrypted on your device before it ever leaves, and the AI has no internet access.
Is my voice data safe?
Yes. Audio is encrypted with AES-256 on your device before upload. All AI processing (transcription, task extraction, search) runs on private servers with no internet access. Nothing is sent to OpenAI, Google, or any third party. When you delete your account, your encryption key is destroyed, making all your data mathematically unrecoverable.
What happened with the Fireflies.ai lawsuit?
In March 2026, a class action was filed against Fireflies.AI under the Illinois Biometric Information Privacy Act. The suit alleges Fireflies collects biometric voiceprints of every meeting participant, including people who never created an account or consented, through its speaker recognition feature. The case is in early litigation.
